Kewaunee girls basketball opens season with win

Practices began last Monday for winter sports with a scrimmage this past Saturday and the first regular season game Tuesday night for Kewaunee High School's girls basketball team. That condensed schedule was not an issue for the Storm. They were the only area team in action, picking up a victory against Denmark on the road. The Storm won, 60-46.

Denmark was led by Abby Maricque who scored 21 points on 9-15 shooting. Maricque's performance helped the Denmark team overall to shoot 47 percent from the field. That made this year's game a lot closer than the opener to the 2018-19 season which saw Kewaunee dispatch the Vikings easily, 73-39.

Kewaunee's next game is Monday night at home against Menasha.
