Girls basketball preview: Sturgeon Bay, Gibraltar get to work

Gibraltar and Sturgeon Bay girls basketball teams begin their regular seasons Thursday night.

 

The Vikings open their season at home against the Coleman Cougars. A regional finalist last season, the Vikings will have to replace two of its top three scorers after Payton Pluff graduated and as Karlee Kita recovers from an off-season injury. Abbi Sitte returns to build on last year's season when she averaged 10 points, five rebounds, and five assists a game. The Vikings host the Cougars at 7:30 p.m.

 

Sturgeon Bay will sail south to Shawano for a 7:15 p.m. tip. The Clippers all but three of its players from last year's 3-20 squad. Sarah Bridenhagen does return to the squad after leading the Clippers in scoring and rebounding last season.
