The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team needed every one of its 14 three-pointers to dispatch California State University-Northridge Monday night 85-84.
Five players scored in double figures for the Phoenix, led by JayQuan McCloud's 20 points. It was a back and forth affair in the second half after the Phoenix entered the break up 44-38. CSUN took a 65-64 advantage after the eight-minute media timeout and even had a slim 76-72 lead with 3:27 remaining. Trading three-pointers during the final minutes, Kam Hankerson banged in the game-winner with 59 seconds remaining to help the Phoenix capture the victory. The final game of the Legends Classic sub-regional takes place tonight at the Kress Center beginning at 7 p.m, when the Phoenix battle Colgate.
In other college action, Wisconsin struggled from behind the arc in its 62-52 loss to Richmond at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Nate Reuvers led the Badgers with 17 points while Kobe King pitched in another 10 points in the loss. The Badgers play New Mexico Tuesday at 4 p.m.
