UWGB women lose in Greater Victoria semifinal

The University of Wisconsin - Green Bay women's basketball team hung with undefeated, 10th-ranked Mississippi State for a half, but they couldn't maintain it for 40 minutes. The Bulldogs won the Greater Victoria Invitational semifinal 83-58. Mississippi State led by a basket at the break.

The Phoenix shot well from the field, over 41 percent, but turnovers came in bunches. In the first 5:09 of the third quarter, UWGB managed a mere four points. Green Bay didn't have the firepower to dig out of a double-digit hole. Guard Frankie Wurtz led the team with 12 points. Algoma's Anna Dier added 11. The Phoenix play in the third-place game today against (18) Syracuse.
