Packers clinch playoffs after surviving Bears game

Fans got to take two deep breaths Sunday after first beating the Chicago Bears 21-13 at Lambeau Field and then snapping a two-year drought from the playoffs.

Aaron Rodgers got the Packers on the board first with a long touchdown pass on fourth down to receiver Davante Adams, taking advantage of a penalty on a fumbled punt by Tramon Williams that would have given the Bears the football back. Up 7-3 in the second quarter, running back Aaron Jones rushed for two third-quarter touchdowns to put the Packers up 21-3. The Bears would score twice in the fourth quarter, including a Mitch Trubisky touchdown pass to make it a one-score game. The Packers couldn't capitalize on an interception by Dean Lowry, setting the stage for a frantic drive for the Bears that ended with a fumble on the one-yard line after several laterals in the final seconds.

A blowout win for the Dallas Cowboys over the Los Angeles Rams officially sent the Packers to the playoffs, but there is still plenty of work to do to clinch not just the division but also a first-round bye. The Packers travel to Minnesota next Monday for an NFC North showdown against the Vikings.
