Phoenix play rare Saturday-Monday slate

The Green Bay Phoenix men and women's basketball teams will escape their usual Thursday/Saturday routine with games this weekend as they open Horizon League play.

The two squad will actually play Saturday and Monday, with the women hosting a pair of matchups and the men playing their games on the road. The Phoenix women open their Horizon League slate with two teams that have given them fits in recent years with Northern Kentucky coming to Kress Center on Saturday afternoon at 1 and defending champion Wright State playing on Monday at 7 p.m. The men will play the same teams but in reverse of the women, playing at Wright State at 1 p.m. Saturday and Northern Kentucky on Monday at 6 p.m. Both teams could use a positive start in conference play to build their potential NCAA Tournament resumes. Both teams posted losing non-conference records, a first for the women in over 20 years.
