Badgers turn over game to Ducks

The Wisconsin Badgers arguably outplayed the Oregon Ducks in the Rose Bowl, but none of that mattered in a 28-27 heartbreaking defeat Wednesday evening.

The Badgers had more yards and held onto the ball for almost 20 minutes longer than the Ducks in its first Rose Bowl appearance since 2013. They also led the turnover department by a 4-1 margin. After giving up an opening drive touchdown to quarterback Justin Herbert, the Badgers scored the next 10 points unanswered thanks in part to a kickoff return by Aron Cruickshank. Herbert would use his legs for two other touchdowns, including the game clincher in the fourth quarter. Jack Coan connected with Quintez Cephus at the end of the first half to give the Badgers a 17-14 lead at the break. The Ducks cashed in on a special teams miscue in the third quarter when punter Anthony Lottie dropped the snap and it was picked up by Brady Breeze to put the ducks on top. Mason Stokke scored the last touchdown for the Badgers on two yard run in the third quarter.

The Badgers will have to wait until September 5th to get back on the football field again when they open the 2020 season against Indiana.
