The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay men’s basketball team doesn’t have a flashy overall record at 7-9 but all signs point to a promising Horizon League campaign. The Phoenix kicked off conference play last weekend on the road against two of the league’s expected top finishers in Wright State and Northern Kentucky, which they split. Now Green Bay enjoys home cooking for five games. That started last night with an 85-71 win over Illinois-Chicago. Sunday afternoon they get a lackluster IUPUI squad. The schedule makers have gifted the Phoenix with an opportunity to be challenging for the top of the Horizon League standings through January.
Last night, it was once again freshman Amari Davis leading the way. He collected 21 points and five rebounds. Four other Phoenix players scored in double figures.
