Packers run over by 49ers

The Green Bay Packers simply had no answers for Raheem Mostert in its 37-20 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game Sunday night in Santa Clara.

The journeyman running back from Purdue had career day rushing, gaining 220 yards on the ground on 29 carries while reaching the endzone four times. The rushing attack was so efficient that 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo only threw the ball eight times, six of which occured in the first half. The 49ers held a 27-0 lead before the Packers would score in the third quarter on a nine yard pass to Aaron Jones. After the 49ers scored on the next possession, Jones would score on a one yard rush and Jace Sternberger caught Aaron Rodgers' 40th career playoff touchdown pass for the final score of the night for the Packers. 49ers kicker Robbie Gould put the game officially on ice after hitting his third field goal of the night with just over 3:30 left in the game. The season concluded when Richard Sherman picked off the final pass of the game from Rodgers, who threw two interceptions and lost a fumble in the loss.

It was still quite the turnaround for the Packers after not making the playoffs for two consecutive seasons to find their way back to the NFC title game.
