Kewaunee is the only Packerland Conference not making the trip to Sturgeon Bay High School Thursday evening as Oconto and Peshtigo make the trip across the bay to battle Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol in high school wrestling.
It has been well over a week for both teams since they last competed on the mat with the Clippineers losing to the Eagles 54-21 despite winning the majority of the contested matches. It has not been as long for the Eagles, which last wrestled on January 14th at Two Rivers in a 45-27 defeat. Oconto and Peshtigo have struggled to field full squads in recent years with only five Blue Devils wrestling at January's Manawa Invitational and four Bulldogs getting matches at December's On The Water Classic.
The double dual meet has been moved up from its original start time to 6:30 p.m. Tim Kowols and Greg Letter will have the call of the Southern Door matches beginning at 6 p.m. with the prematch show followed by first whistle at 6:30 p.m. with Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol matches being called as time permits. The matches can be heard on 104.1 WRLU and streamed worldwide at DoorCountyDailyNews.com, DoorKewauneeHighSchoolSports.com, and the DoorCountyDailyNews.com mobile app.
It is a battle of the top two teams in Division 2 in Luxemburg Thursday night as #2 Luxemburg-Casco hosts #1 Wrightstown. The Tigers bring with them seven wrestlers featured in Wisconsin Wrestling Online's Division 2 rankings while the Spartans boast seven of their own, including top ranked Reece Worachek and Lucas Joniaux. That dual starts at 7 p.m.
