Phoenix hold off Vikings

The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team has had a flair for the dramatic over the last week, capturing its third straight nail-biting win in a row Thursday night in Cleveland.

In its 78-74 victory over Cleveland State, it was JayQuan McCloud leading the way for the Phoenix with 31 points. Every one of those points was needed after finding themselves just a shot away from being down after holding a double-digit lead just two minutes earlier.  It was a clutch three-point play by McCloud and solid free-throw shooting by the team that eventually brought home the win. The victory puts the Phoenix in third place ahead of its matinee matchup Saturday at Youngstown State.

The Phoenix women will mirror the men, playing Youngstown State Friday night before crossing paths with the men to play Cleveland State on Sunday.
