Kewaunee wins third straight wrestling crown on 104.1 WRLU

The Kewaunee Storm won five of the last six matches by pin to beat Southern Door 51-24 to win its third straight Packerland title.

 

The dual went back in forth in the early going with the score tied at 21-21 before the fateful stretch. Logan Steinhorst started the evening with a 9-4 decision over Griffin Slezewski before Kyle Conard answered the bell with a pin at 138 pounds. Mitchell Thompson and Mason Jeanquart each picked up victories before the Eagles picked up points thanks to forfeit to Cody Nellis and a first period pin at 170 pounds for Grant Englebert over Ezra Ducat. After Logan Kubetz got a pin at 182 pounds for the Storm, Riley Phillips won a thrilling match in the final moments 10-8 to knot things up for the Eagles. Alec Guilette provided the last win for the Eagles with 113 pounds with Jason Reinke (220lbs), Jacob VanGoethem (285 lbs), Matt Wery (106 lbs), Max  Severin (120 lbs), and Jack Severin (126 lbs) closing out the evening with pins. 

 

It was the Eagles' final dual meet of the regular season while Kewaunee will face Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol for its final Packerland matchup. In other wrestling action Thursday night, Luxemburg-Casco demolished Fox Valley Lutheran 73-3.
