Facing a one point deficit at halftime in Oconto, the Sturgeon Bay High School boys’ basketball team had to find an offensive spark with a flu battered lineup. It was Gunnar Tebon who answered the call, netting 21 of his career-high 35 points in the second frame to give the Clippers a 69-53 victory. Since Kewaunee doesn’t tip off until 3:30 Saturday afternoon, Sturgeon sits alone in first place in the Packerland Conference.
The boys were the opening match of a Sturgeon Bay-Oconto doubleheader and the game had an unusual 6 PM tip off Friday night. Their next game is Monday in Shawano. That game is a non-conference matchup. Shawano currently sits at 3-5 in the Bay standings.
