Kewaunee wrestling prepares for tough stretch run

Wrestling is not an easy sport and Kewaunee knows that better than almost anyone. The Storm clinched their third straight Packerland Conference title last week against Southern Door with a hard-fought 51-24 victory. The team is a two-time defending regional champion, but an enrollment increase bumped them up to Division 2. That places them in the same bracket as another local, multi-year regional champion in Luxemburg-Casco and other tough squads in Denmark, Valders, Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol and Two Rivers. Head coach Dan Steinhorst says the competition level has certainly risen but says his wrestlers are ready for the challenge.

Before they get to next weekend's regional tournament, Kewaunee will wrap up its Packerland Conference slate with a 7 p.m. home meet against Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol.
