Middle school, youth wrestlers shine

With high school teams taking the weekend off ahead of regionals this Saturday, it was middle school and youth squads taking the spotlight.

From Kevin Slezewski, Southern Door Wrestling

It was a busy weekend of youth wrestling for the Southern Door Eagles.  On Saturday at West De Pere, Flynn Jeanquart and Jonah LeFevre earned their way to the top step of the podium with 1st Place finishes.  Other results were:
2nd Place - Payton Jeanquart, Delencey DuBois, Wyatt Jeanquart
3rd Place - Elijah DuBois, Jackson Bellin
4th Place - Chance Dekeyser, Eastin Micolichek, Luke Bellin, Jiohnni Oberleitner

At the Two Rivers Youth Tournament on Sunday, Wyatt Jeanquart brought home a 1st Place trophy, with Peter Bloniarz, and siblings Nora, Clark and Jonah LeFevre all finishing in 2nd Place, and Alex Buhr 3rd.  Great showing all weekend by our Eagles youth and middle school wrestlers!  Way to represent!  #UnitedInBattle

The Southern Door Eagles Middle School wrestling team continued their winning ways at Preble High School in Green Bay on Saturday, going 55-13 (W-L record) overall in contested matches during a 5 team duals event.  They ended up in 2hd Place as a team, coming up just short against Parkview (Ashwaubenon) by just 3 points.  Great job Eagles!
Dual results:
Southern Door 63 - Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol 37
Southern Door 91 - Edison/Red Smith 3
Parkview MS 48 - Southern Door 45
Southern Door 88 - GB Lombardi/Washington 33

You’ll have a chance to see the middle school team in action at the Eagle Gym on March 5, 2020, as they host the 4 team Talon Tussle!

FROM STURGEON BAY/SEVASTOPOL WRESTLING

At Brillion
SBS K - 6th Dual Team competed against some of the best division 1 schools in the state. Although the team took some lumps our athletes all battled hard and fiercely. It was great combining the youth and MS team to work on team building. Although the loses outnumbered the wins we still had many victories both on the Mat and personally. Coaches Rory Madsen, Trevor Hasenjager and Rob Vogel want to recognize the efforts of each member of this team and congratulate you all for your courage, perseverance & sportsmanship. Your performances today have earned their respect and your ENTIRE SBS wrestling family is VERY PROUD of you!!!

Nate Hasenjager, Deacon Haus, Atticus Haus, Gabe Hankins, Caleb Welch, Mason Haen Lauder, Layla Stai, Spencer Madsen, Yazzie Levine, Sydney Turner, and Tiani LeMieux.

At Two Rivers
SBS Middle Schoolers did a great job at Two Rivers today. All placed 3rd or better in their brackets. Coaches Leif Lautenbach and John Wrobel were pleased with everyone’s attitude and support for one another.

Ethan DeNamur, Ashley Ruiz, Patrick Haese, Julia Gregory, and Zak Wrobel.
