Wisconsin, Marquette get important wins

The state's major college basketball programs each got big wins Sunday afternoon to help improve their seeding in next month's conference tournaments.

Wisconsin honored the 20th anniversary of its 2000 Final Four team in Madison with a 70-57 win against Ohio State. The Badgers set the tone defensively in the first half, holding the Buckeyes to just 32 percent shooting from the field while going on their own 31-7 run to end the half with a lead they would not give up. Brevin Pritzl led the Badgers with 19 points.

Marquette blew past #19 Butler in Milwaukee with a 76-57 win. One of the better three-point shooting teams in the country, Butler hit only four on 20 attempts while the Golden Eagles hit 11. The Golden Eagles were also able to get to the line a lot, making 21 of 28 compared to seven of eight for the Bulldogs. Markus Howard led Marquette with 17 points while Koby McEwen and Brendan Bailey each pitched in 16 points.
