Howard sets Big East mark in Marquette loss

Markus Howard has a new record but could not help the Marquette Golden Eagles dig out of a big hole in its 72-71 loss to Villanova Wednesday night.

The game-ending three-point shot made by Howard gave him the all-time Big East scoring record at 1,408 points. He scored 24 points in the game as he tried to help the Golden Eagles climb all the way back from 18 down in the second half to the 15th ranked Wildcats. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl helped lead the Wildcats passed the Golden Eagles, scoring 17 points and collecting 11 rebounds.

The state's other Division 1 men's programs do not play until Saturday when Green Bay travels to face UW-Milwaukee and Wisconsin visits Lincoln to play Nebraska.
