Boys' basketball: Slow starts plague local teams

Local boys' basketball teams could not come back from first-half deficits in Thursday's games.

Luxemburg-Casco had three players score in double digits and outscored the Irish in the second half, but it was not enough to topple Freedom in a 73-69 defeat.

Algoma could not take advantage of a poor free-throw shooting night by the Bulldogs, losing to Peshtigo 70-55.

Gibraltar outscored Oconto 32-26 in the second half, but it was not enough to dig out of a first-half deficit in its 66-49 loss.

Gunnar Tebon made sure Sevastopol couldn't come back in its game against Sturgeon Bay, scoring 32 points in the Clippers 92-69 victory.

In the Valentine's Day slate of games, Gibraltar heads to St. Lawrence Seminary for a 7 p.m. tip and Luxemburg-Casco hosts Southern Door at 7:15 p.m.,
