Sectional fields set for sectional wrestling

The area's sectional wrestlers know who they will be facing in their first matches of sectionals this Saturday. 

 

For Kewaunee in Division 2, Jack Severin will open his day at 126 pounds wrestling Chase Kmosena of Mosinee. Mitchell Thompson will meet Wyatt Esker of Wittenberg-Birnamwood at 145 pounds. Mason Jeanquart will compete at 160 pounds, preparing for his match against Aidan Stary of Oconto Falls.

 

Also competing in Division 2 at Oconto Falls is Luxemburg-Casco, which will have Easton Worachek start things off at 106 pounds facing Lakeland Union/Mercer's Sawyer Duir. Tyler Derenne draws Caleb Meunier of Winneconne in his first match at 113 pounds while Hunter Joniaux wrestles Ryan Tomazevic of Seymour at 120 pounds. Lucas Joniaux looks for another state appearance, opening his campaign against Noah Kilgas of Little Chute at 132 pounds. Isaac Blohowiak meets Wrightstown's Ben Durocher at 152 pounds and state champion Reece Worachek looks to repeat last year's success beginning with Winneconne's Matt Crowley at 182 pounds. The Spartans wrap things up with Travis LeGrave facing Tomahawk's Austin Leinen at 220 pounds and Kyle Kroll sparring against Xavier's Jacob Earle at 285 pounds.

 

In Division 3 regional action in Shawano, Southern Door starts things with Griffin Slezewski looks to make his second trip to Madison in three years, wrestling Crandon's Brett Palubicki at 126 pounds. Grant Englebert hopes to make it two straight trips starting with Rosholt's Blade Niewiadomski. Brodie Overbeck makes his sectionals debut with 285 pound weight class match against Amherst's John Farkas.

 

First session matches at both the Division 2 sectional at Oconto Falls and Division 3 sectional at Shawano begin at 10:30 a.m.
