The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team now has a team to carpool with after the men's squad beat Oakland Thursday night 78-63 at the Resch Center.
The game still could have swung either way after the first half with both teams tied at 30, but that is when Cody Schwartz took over. The DePere native scored 10 of his 16 points in a crucial 16-4 run for the Phoenix that gave them the cushion needed to advance. Amari Davis led the Phoenix with 19 points on the evening as JayQuan McCloud and Kameron Hankerson also reached double figures.
Both Phoenix teams will head to Indianapolis to play in the Horizon League Tournament semifinals and, oddly enough, both play Northern Kentucky.
