Big Ten basketball tournament begins tonight

The Big Ten men’s basketball tournament returns to Indianapolis after two years on the east coast. There are 14 teams in the conference, and the lowest four seeds will be on the court tonight. Tomorrow the winners will join seeds 5-10 for four second-round games.

The Wisconsin Badgers cemented their place as a one-seed in the bracket on the season’s final weekend, which means they get a double-bye. They share that distinction with (2) Michigan State, (3) Maryland, and (4) Illinois. Unlike some other teams waiting until Friday, Wisconsin knows who they will be playing. The Badgers get the winner of (9) Michigan and (8) Rutgers at 11 AM Friday. Wisconsin is comfortably into the Big Dance. The Badgers most likely have a four or five seed, which could be improved with a good showing in the conference tournament.
