Golf's first major postponed

The Masters at Augusta National bills itself as a tradition unlike any other, but its response to the coronavirus outbreak across the country mirrors that of other professional sports leagues. The year’s first major has been postponed. It is conceivable that the tournament could be pushed back later into 2020 as there is a gap of roughly two months between The Masters and the US Open on the calendar. Augusta National tends to be the most forgiving of the majors, with the world’s most talented players able to work out of mistakes and play meaningful golf on Sunday afternoon. For players like Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods, Augusta represents their best chance at a major win.
