An annual rite of spring in Door County has been canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Door County Half Marathon alerted its registrants and social media followers Thursday that the event, which only has a 5K run, would not be held in 2020 in an effort to slow the virus' spread. The decision comes less than week after showing some hope that maybe the event's running could be saved. In its message to runners, organizers asked for patience as it weighs other options.
