DKHS.com's Champion of Champions Series: Skiing

For as long as it has been without high school sports, the longer drought may belong to skiing. Skiing was added to the WIAA in the 1950s, but has since gone the way of curling, boys gymnastics, and summer baseball. Skiing in particular only lasted until 1975 with only eight different schools winning state titles since the sport was officially recognized in 1958. Wausau won the first four championships, but it was Sturgeon Bay winning titles in 1968 and 1971.

Over the next several weeks, DoorKewauneeHighSchoolSports.com will highlight the 64 teams that won WIAA state championships in Door and Kewaunee Counties. Whether they be pictures, videos, or written stories, we invite the former athletes of these teams to share their memories with us to be highlighted on DoorKewauneeHighSchoolSports.com. You can submit those entries to news@doorcountydailynews.com. We will also have sports poll questions every week where you can help name the DoorKewauneeHighSchoolSports.com Champion of Champions. The tentative schedule is below and will be paused if and when the spring sports season presumes this year.
