NASCAR’s biggest name, Jimmie Johnson, will be missing this weekend’s race from one of the sport’s most famous tracks after testing positive for COVID-19. Johnson has won the NASCAR Cup seven times in his career but will be forced to sit out the Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He is the first driver on the circuit to contract the virus. NASCAR is already dealing with a television ratings problem in the wake of the Bubba Wallace noose incident. Last Saturday’s race from Pocono averaged only 2.57 million viewers on the Fox Network. Losing Johnson won’t help that trend.
