Shortened season gives Brewers' Braun lifeline

For Ryan Braun fans, you might finally have a reason to thank COVID-19.

The Milwaukee Brewers staple for well over a decade told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel during the team's first workouts since March that the universal DH and shortened season may have extended his career out to 2021. Fewer games and less time out in the field could keep Braun fresh for what the Brewers hope will be a third straight season in the playoffs. The team has a $15 million option for 2021, but a lesser number may have to suffice if Braun wants to finish his career with the Brewers.  Braun and the Brewers are working through their summer camp schedule before the "regular" season begins at the end of the month.
