School boards discuss fall athletics season

With the start of practices for fall sports about a month away, area school boards are taking up the issue at their summer meetings.

Gibraltar started the discussion at its meeting on June 22nd and will take it further when it meets again this month. Luxemburg-Casco chatted about allowing athletes to participate in sports as a part of the summer contact period, but nothing specific about the fall. The Kewaunee School Board will discuss athletics at its special board meeting on July 7th. Sevastopol. Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay, and Algoma's school boards have not taken up fall athletics in recent meetings.

The WIAA released Return to Play guidelines last month for all fall sports as principals of Packerland Conference meet to discuss a plan for move forward so athletics and in-person classes can both continue safely.
