Barring a Big Ten-level surprise, noncontact sports are set to start Monday across the Door Peninsula. That includes practices for girls’ golf, tennis, and swimming as well as cross country. It won’t be long before competition begins. The first Packerland Conference event is tentatively slated for Thursday, August 20th, a golf tournament in Shawano.
All of that could change, though. The WIAA’s Board of Control meets this Friday. Neighboring Minnesota has already moved football and volleyball to the spring. Door County is currently at eight active COVID-19 cases, representing a moderate level of disease activity.
