Brewers fall to Cubs

Pitcher Yu Darvish went 6 1/3 without allowing a hit as the Chicago Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2 Thursday night at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs struck first in the opening frame on an RBI groundout off the bat of Javier Baez. After Kyle Schwarber went deep in the second inning to make it 2-0, the Cubs score two more times thanks to an RBI double by Ian Happ and a run-scoring single by David Bote. Justin Smoak took advantage of the long lay-off for Darvish, ending the no-hit and shutout bid on a home run to right field. Smoak drove in the other run for the Brewers with a ground-rule double that drove in Avisail Garcia. The four-game series in Chicago continues Friday night at 7:15 p.m.
