Brewers drop series finale to Twins

A Justin Smoak homer in the seventh inning was all the Milwaukee Brewers could muster in its 7-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Thursday.

By that point, the Twins had built up a 2-0 lead thanks to an RBI single by Ryan Jeffers in the third inning and a sacrifice fly by Illdemaro Vargas. Brandon Woodruff exited the game after five innings, giving up just the two runs on nine hits. The Twins would add on plenty of insurance runs after the Smoak home run, starting with a two-run dinger by Nelson Cruz in the bottom half of the seventh. Angel Perdomo struggled in his inning of work, walking in one run and giving up a two-run double to Jorge Polanco.

The Brewers road trip continues as they head to Pittsburgh for a three-game set against the Pirates.
