A five-run seventh inning slammed the door on a Milwaukee Brewers comeback Saturday as they lost to the Pirates 12-5.
Jedd Gyorko tied the game briefly for the Crew at 1-1 in the fourth inning before the Pirates scored six unanswered runs. Keston Hiura's seventh homer drove in three runs to cut the deficit to 7-4 in the seventh inning, but the Pirates' five runs in the bottom half of the inning put hopes of a comeback to rest. Ryan Braun was able to get an RBI on a ground-rule double in the top of the ninth. The Brewers will try to salvage a game in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
