The Milwaukee Brewers cruised to a 9-1 Friday night victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates, behind a sterling six-inning effort from starter Corbin Burnes. The 6’3” righty struck out ten in six shutout innings, allowing just three hits before handing the ball to a good bullpen effort from David Phelps and Drew Rasmussen. The Pirates’ lone run was a two-out homer in the seventh.
Milwaukee pushed across nine without Christian Yelich in the lineup. Right fielder Ryan Braun led the way with three RBIs, nearly doubling his total for the entire month of August. The Brewers improved to 14-17 on the season. First pitch Saturday is at 6:10 PM from Miller Park.
