Stanley Cup playoffs Gamblers-centric

Despite being played in Canada, the Stanley Cup still has a hometown feel for local hockey fans.

That could be especially true depending on the result of Saturday's game between the New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers with the winner securing a date against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Lightning boasts a coach staff with a number of former Green Bay Gamblers personnel on its staff, including head coach Jon Cooper and assistant Derek Lalonde.

Video Coach Brian Garlock and Amateur Scout John Burkart also spent time on the Gamblers staff.

On the ice, former Gamblers star Anders Lee is looking to continue his season with the Islanders. Over his last five games with the Islanders, he has scored three goals. Another former player, Justin Braun, has two assists in the last five games for the Flyers. In the Western Conference, former Gambler Sheldon Dries is on the Colorado Avalanche roster but has not recorded any stats in the Edmonton bubble.

The NHL stars of tomorrow will be on 104.1 WRLU this fall and winter when the Green Bay Gamblers return to action this November.
