Hockey and football players at Wisconsin are grabbing some bench as the Madison campus deals with a COVID-19 outbreak.
The Wisconsin State Journal is reporting the two teams will take at least a two-week break due to a number of positive COVID-19 tests. The department does not break down the numbers by sport, but 62 Badgers athletes have tested positive since the beginning of August. The news comes after the campus itself canceled in-person classes for the next two weeks and quarantined two residence halls because of an outbreak affecting more than 1,400 students and employees. The other athletics teams on campus are allowed to continue their practices despite the fall season being canceled last month.
