Brewers' staff remains dominant

Two hits against sixteen strikeouts for Milwaukee pitchers Friday night will raise some eyebrows. It was another excellent performance from Brewers pitchers, this time keyed by seven impressive innings from Brandon Woodruff. The Crew haven’t given up a run since the seventh inning in Tuesday’s loss to the Detroit Tigers. That’s a lot of donuts on the scoreboard. Milwaukee might need to change their name if this keeps up. ‘Bakers’ isn’t taken yet, and it has sure been a treat to watch the staff take the mound in recent days.

Milwaukee’s offense wasn’t quite as prodigious as Wednesday’s 19-run outburst, but it came up big when needed in the bottom of the ninth. A Christian Yelich lead-off walk followed by a Jedd Gyorko single put the winning run 90 feet from home for Ryan Braun. He took an inside sinkerball and went the opposite way. The flyball to right-center was deep enough to push across the game’s first run for a 1-0 final score.
