Reporter Jeff Potrykus from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal posted on Twitter yesterday that Big Ten football will happen starting October 17th. University of Nebraska President Walter Carter was caught on a hot mic at a Lincoln television station earlier in the day saying the season was a done deal and an announcement would happen Tuesday night. As of Wednesday morning, there is still no word from the conference. The thought is that the season would consist of eight games played over nine weeks with the Big Ten Championship held the week before Christmas. That would allow the conference winner to play enough games to be eligible for the College Football Playoff. The deadline to complete that schedule is December 20th.
