Braun hits milestone as Brewers split

The Milwaukee Brewers went 1-1 against the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday, dropping game one 4-2 and winning game two 6-0.

In game one, Brandon Woodruff went the distance in the 4-2 loss to the Cardinals. He gave up single tallies in the second, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings which were bookended with solo homers by Tyler O'Neil and Brad Miller. Keston Hiura provided the only offense of the game for the Brewers, giving the Brewers a 2-0 lead in the first inning with his 13th home run of the truncated season.

Woodruff's outing helped the Brewers bullpen stay fresh for their collective effort in game two. Four pitchers combined for the seven-inning shutout with Brent Suter giving up the only two hits of the game. Freddy Peralta picked up the win with two innings of work in relief of Suter, striking out three Cardinals batters in the process. The Brewers scored four of their six runs in the first inning, including Ryan Braun's 350th career home run that drove in three. Jacob Nottingham's two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth provided the Brewers insurance they would not need.
