Brewers start final road trip with loss

The Milwaukee Brewers' fight to make the postseason started on a low note Monday as they fell to the Cincinnati Reds 6-3.

All nine runs scored in the game were via, kicked off by Jed Gyorko's solo blast in the fifth inning gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead. Brandon Woodruff had a high pitch count but was still putting down Reds hitters until he gave up a two-run homer to Eugenio Suarez in the bottom of the sixth inning. Curt Casali and Mike Moustakas put the game away for the Reds in the eighth inning with homers to push the Brewers deficit. Jace Peterson's two-run dinger in the ninth cut the lead to 6-3 but the Brewers would get no closer.

With the Reds and Cubs winning and the Cardinals losing, the Brewers remain on the outside looking in on the playoffs. They are just percentage points behind the Philadelphia Phillies for the final Wild Card spot, which lost to the Phillies Monday night 5-1.
