Algoma football shut down, Kewaunee still a go

The Wolves were set to kick off the season Friday night against Sevastopol, part of a home-and-home series that were the only contests scheduled for 2020. Algoma will continue to practice and still hopes to have some sort of activity to commemorate this season. The shape or form that takes is still under discussion. Algoma has not decided whether the team will participate in the alternate fall season slated for next spring.

Kewaunee has moved all fall sports, except for football, to the spring. The Storm are not practicing right now as the entire district is operating under virtual instruction due to safety precautions put in place against COVID-19. That means the first game won’t happen until October 16th, scheduled to be against Southern Door. Kewaunee could conceivably still squeeze in four games, which would give them the option to play three in the spring if they don’t eventually move the whole season to the alternate calendar. Southern Door is 1-0 after a 44-7 victory against Clintonville last Friday.
