Spartans soccer fall in tournament tune-up

Peshtigo scored two unanswered goals in the second half to put away the Spartans 3-1 at the Luxemburg-Casco Sports Complex Tuesday night.

The match between two of the region's better teams started with Ryan VanVooren scoring in the eighth minute to give the Bulldogs the early 1-0 lead. About 10 minutes later, Griffin Saldana was able to find Cody Arendt for the equalizer to tie the game at one for the Spartans. The Bulldogs were able to find the net twice in the second half, first by Johnny Conn in the 68th minute and Adam Bauman four minutes later.  Spartans goalie Garrett Zuleger and Bulldogs keeper Seth Davis each had six saves.

Head coach Cory Romdenne said the Bulldogs were an impressive team to face and he hopes the match served as good preparation and a test before the teams start their playoff run this weekend.
