Luxemburg-Casco's Spencer Thiry kicked off the weekend on a high note for the area's cross country teams.

Thiry's 17:46 on the  5K course hosted by Kettle Moraine Lutheran was good for sixth place out of 38 participating runners to punch his ticket to Colby High School next week.

Bailey Henrickson, Noah Tomaszewski, and Scott Andreae and the entire girls' team will try their hand at qualifying for the state meet in West Salem when they run at Manitowoc Lutheran on Saturday. Earlier this week, past state qualifier Olivia Stenzel earned her second Culver's Student-Athlete of the Week Honor.
