The Sevastopol girls cross country team finished in the top half of their field in Saturday's WIAA Division 3 state meet in West Salem.
The Pioneers took fifth out of 12 teams, paced by senior Olivia Stenzel. Her time of 19:36 in her final race was a personal record not just for her season but for her cross country career. It was good for seventh place overall and second for scoring runners. Joined by Jolene Luedtke, Kylie Newton, Bea Dramm, Rachel Wilke, Libby Ash, and McKenzie Wiesner, the Pioneers averaged a time of 21:38 on the 5K course. The team scored 160 points, finishing behind state champion Lancaster, Ozaukee, Kickapoo/LaFarge, and Gillett.
In Colby, Luxemburg-Casco's Spencer Thiry completed his 5K course with a time of 17:51, good for 54th overall.
