The Luxemburg-Casco girls volleyball team took the next step towards a potential second consecutive state championship on Saturday afternoon by sweeping the #4 St. Croix Falls Saints 3-0 in the state semi-final at Kaukauna High School. The Spartans won set one 25-13 easily but were in a battle in set two and three. The Saints took a 19-15 lead in the second set before the Spartans responded with seven consecutive points and closed the set out 25-22. Set three was a see-saw affair with numerous ties and the Spartans closing out the match with a 27-25 decision. The #1 seeded Spartans will now await the winner of Lakeside Lutheran and Platteville this afternoon. Luxemburg-Casco (14-0) still has not lost a set all season going 42-0.
