Brewers reliever Williams named NL Rookie of the Year

Devin Williams of the Milwaukee Brewers has been crowned the 2020 National League Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year. This award came shortly after receiving the 2020 National League Reliever of the Year award two weeks ago. The right-hand relief pitcher received 14 of 30 first-place ballots registered by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America and finished with 95 points while second-place finisher Alec Bohm of the Philadelphia Phillies tallied only 74 points. “To be honest, it still really hasn't set in," Williams said in an evening call with reporters. "I've always been the kind of person who keeps his head down and keeps going.” The 26-year-old went 4-1, striking out 53 batters in 27 innings of work giving him a 0.33 earned run average. This is the Brewers' first Rookie of the Year since Ryan Braun won in 2007.
