Girls' basketball season fast approaching

Barring any outbreaks, local schools may soon see their girls' basketball teams take the court.

The area's seven teams were eligible to start practices on Monday.

In the Packerland Conference, most teams will not start game action until December 1st and will play primarily against league opponents. Sevastopol is scheduled to kick things off on November 28th against Roncalli. It also has a game against Northeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschoolers Athletic Associaton at 6:00 p.m. Most of the other girls' teams begin to play the next day with Gibraltar hosting Algoma and Southern Door traveling to NEW Lutheran in Green Bay. Kewaunee and Sturgeon Bay have their season-opening scratched until January 28th. The Storm is not scheduled for a regular-season game until December 4th against the Algoma and the Clippers will have to wait until December 7th to play at Southern Door.

In the Northeastern Conference, Luxemburg-Casco has their first game at Wrightstown on Tuesday.

Boys' basketball and wrestling can begin their practices on November 23rd.
