Gamblers' homestand prematurely ends with victory

The Green Bay Gamblers stuffed the net full of goals for a 7-4 win over the Chicago Steel Wednesday at the Resch Center.

Newcomer Jackson Hallum scored three goals for a hat trick in his USHL debut for Green Bay. Hallum joined the Gamblers earlier this week after signing with the University of Michigan for next season, the Minnesota native scored a pair of goals in the first period at 1:55 & 4:46. Jake Schmaltz tallied the third goal of the first period to give the Gamblers a 3-0 lead entering the second period. However, the Gamblers would be threatened by Chicago in the second period after a three goal-scoring streak to tie the game at 3-3. Third period play consisted of another goal from Schmaltz at 13:31 and Mason Lohrei marked his first goal of the game at 18:00 for a two-score lead over the Steel. Hallum filed the completion of his hat trick at 5:11 to give Green Bay a comfortable lead while Alex Servagno extended the lead further after scoring on a power-play goal at 10:40. Chicago scored one more goal in the third period but fell short to Green Bay, 7-4. Goaltender Matt Davis picked up his fourth win of the season and Green Bay sits in first place of the USHL Eastern Division standings at 4-1-1.

Green Bay was scheduled to play Friday, November 27th but was postponed and will be rescheduled later this season. Green Bay will next find themselves slated to play a four-game away stretch in December before returning home on the 15th.
