Kewaunee girls' basketball season put on hold

The Kewaunee girls' basketball team will have to wait a little longer to get their regular season underway.

According to Kewaunee Athletic Director Brian Rabas, COVID-19 has sent the girls' basketball team into quarantine until at least December 9th before they could practice again. After they get their WIAA-mandated five practices in after quarantine, the Storm can play once again. That puts their first post-quarantine game on December 14th against Menasha.

Its season opener against Sturgeon Bay on December 1st has already been rescheduled for January 28th. Other games against Algoma, Oconto, and Gibraltar have been postponed and not rescheduled as of Monday morning.

Rabas says the quarantine does not affect the wrestling or boys' basketball seasons, which will be among the school's first competitions since March.
