Marquette hits the road for Big East opener

The Marquette Golden Eagles will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to tip-off Big East Conference play against the eighth ranked Creighton Bluejays tonight. The Golden Eagles will find themselves entering this matchup with a 4-2 record overall and they are projected to finish sixth in the Big East according to ESPN’s projection consensus. ESPN college basketball insider Jeff Borzello said “Carton, Koby McEwen and freshman Dawson Garcia will have to shoulder most of the offense this season.” Sports Illustrated tabbed the preseason Big East Newcomer of the Year award to freshman Garcia, he is entering Big East play averaging 12.7 points per game (ppg) while McEwen leads the team in scoring with 15.3 ppg. Creighton will enter the matchup with a 4-1 record and an ESPN conference projection second place finish. Tip-off is set for 8pm.
