The Marquette Golden Eagles jumped to a commanding 18 point lead in the first half and hung on for a 79-69 win over the Providence Fryars Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles hit nine of 19 three-pointers and were able to stave off the Fryars comeback in the second half. Dawson Garcia poured in 20 points for Marquette and Koby McEwen tallied 17 more as Marquette improved to 7-6 overall. The Golden Eagles will now play St. Johns in New York on Saturday at 1 pm.
