College basketball recap: Wisconsin wins, Marquette loses

It was a night of mixed results for the state's two major Division 1 programs Wednesday night.

The Wisconsin Badgers avenged an earlier season loss to Maryland by winning 61-55. The Badgers almost saw two big leads slip away, but they can thank Micah Potter for getting them back out front. The senior registered finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds in the win.

Marquette was not as lucky in its road loss to Providence by the score of 72-63. The Golden Eagles erased a seven-point halftime deficit to force overtime but were outscored 13-4 in the extra period. Koby McEwen scored 13 points while DJ Carton and Justin Lewis each scored 12 points in the loss.

The Golden Eagles will now have off until Tuesday when they return to Milwaukee to host Butler. The Badgers will continue their road trip on Saturday when they face Penn State. Green Bay's men's' team heads to Cleveland State for a Friday/Saturday set while the women will face IUPUI at the Kress Center.
